• Born Dunblane in central Scotland in 1962.
   
• Married to Helen (also a handbell ringer) and they have a son, Adam, and daughter, Eleanor.
   
• Founder member of Dunblane Cathedral Handbell Ringers, Scotland's leading handbell ensemble, established 1977.
   
• Director of handbell programme at Dunblane Cathedral since 1987, with groups for all ages from 8 to adult.
   
• Conferred Honorary Life Membership of the Handbell Ringers of Great Britain, bestowed for services to ringing in Scotland.
   
• Former National Membership Secretary of the Handbell Ringers of Great Britain and the first Chairman of the Scottish Regional Association of that Society (1996 - 2005).
   
• Delivered handbell lectures, led ringing workshops and been massed-ringing conductor for many groups and events in Britain, was massed-ringing conductor at the 5th International Handbell Symposium in Edmonton, Canada in 1992, a guest clinician at the Handbell Exploration in Phoenix, Arizona in 1996, and massed-ringing conductor at the 9th International Handbell Symposium in Birmingham, England in 2000, and the 11th International Handbell Symposium in Toronto, Canada in 2004.
